Ever since sleeping on a little known Chicago rapper who dropped a just another mixtape, a couple years ago, I’ve learned my lesson. The aforementioned mixtape I’m talking about is, yes, you guessed it, Acid Rap, by my now favourite rapper, Chance the Rapper. Since this time I’ve learned to never sleep on all the sounds coming out of Chicago right now. From the Drill music scene, to the SAVEMONEY Army, and everything in between, Chiraq has become a hot-bed for new talent.
Today we get some new music from another new artist, looking to show and prove, Max Wonders. Obviously not quite known, yet, over here in Canada, the good people over at Pigeons&Planes put me on to the new tape while cruising through Twitter last night. The 18 year old spent time recording You Will Never Find back home in the Chi, and in L.A. to ensure all of the music came across the right way. With the majority of production on You Will Never Find done by his good friend, Sowle, the sounds create a mesh only matched by the greatest duo’s in the industry; think 2013 Keef and Chop. Closer to the sounds of SAVEMONEY, the EP speaks on all the experiences of “Summertime Chi” *Ye Voice*. The intro, “88 Changes”, a single released a few months back, served as one of the highlights of the tape for me.
Stream the 8 song project below, and be sure to check out the rest of Max Wonders catalouge over on his Soundcloud. Only time will tell if Max will be next-up, but based on the music he’s been creating, he seems more than poised for success, at only 18 years of age. Stay tuned.
