A good team only strives to become a great team. On behalf of the whole squad we are excited to welcome RLGT’s newest staff writer, Thomas Johnson. One of the most talented writers coming out the thunder-dome, we are excited to have a team member besides Gurnoor who can actually grow a full beard.
All hail Thomas AKA OG TJ Detweiler. Welcome to the team.

RLGT Meet & Greet: Thomas
Who are you?
I’m Thomas Johnson. I’ve been called Sasquatch on occasion. Not since I shaved. Editors Note: This sasquatch will also be noted as OG TJ Detweiler occasionally, from now on.
21 officially. Timeless unofficially
Currently your friendly neighborhood shoe salesman at Sportchek. Workin’ on becoming a writer for something that’ll pay me roughly the GDP of a small country. Also a staff writer for the influential and distinguished Passion of the Weiss, former writer for Potholes in My Blog, Kevin Nottingham, and Fast Forward Weekly.
What City You Repping?:
From St. Albert, AB so I begrudgingly cheer for the Oilers. Reppin the Roughriders and Raptors too. And Lebron. Also, S/O to the Thunder-dome….
Top 3 favourite albums/mixtapes of all time, and why?
1. Kanye West – My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
No one man should have all that power.
2 and 3.
After MBDTF my favorites tend to alternate between Father John Misty’s I Love You Honey Bear, Outkast’s Aquemini, The Nationa’s Boxer, TV On The Radio’s Return To Cookie Mountain, D’Angelo’s Voodoo, Yeezus’ Yeezus, and a few others I can’t think of right now.
Common’s Be is also the first album I ever caught feelings for.
Who are your favorite artists right now?
Always Kanye, Outkast, Run The Jewels (together and solo), The National, and D’Angelo. Often Most Def, Action Bronson, Prince, Jay-Z.
More currently Future, Vince Staples, Young Thug, Father John Misty, Mick Jenkins, Tame Impala, Miguel, Hurt Everybody, The Hotelier.
R.I.P. Sean Price.
Editors Note: From that, all the way to this; The kids got good taste.
How would you describe your writing style to the RLGT readers out there?
Finish the sentence: The most interesting thing about Canadian Urban Culture is…
…that there’s a lot of potential that goes farther than just Wheelchair Jimmy’s reach and it’s starting to get put on. That’s why we’re here. The north’s on the come up.
Any final words?
