Poll: Who Made The Best “Weight In Gold” Remix?

Ever since the dawn of time, song’s have been being remixed, in turn creating brand new, low-key bangers. From the un-necessary, like DMX putting his own spin on “Rudolph The Red-Nose Reindeer”, to the well-needed, like this perfect Autolaser remix of “Watch Me Whip, Watch Me Nae Nae”, remixes are great, and every once in a while, a song comes along that lends itself perfectly to a good twist. Often the track is by someone like Ellie Goulding or Lorde, power singers who tend to croon over slow, somewhat boring productions, although most recently, “Weight In Gold” by Gallant has been the infectious beat to get remixed by just about everybody.

(Above: The original version of “Weight In Gold”. Dope song already, but definitely begging for a remix, or 5.)

Today RLGT asks the question: Who Made The BEST “Weight In Gold” remix? Check out our top 5 picks below, and then answer the poll to give your 2 cents. (Also, kind of dope to see each artists’ spin on the artwork)

Ekali Remix:

An uber-talented Canadian producer, Ekali, is first up. Known for heavy trap remixes, this one is definitely out of his comfort zone a bit, but he manages to pull it back and deliver a Flume-esque version of the Gallant track.

Brasstracks Remix:

Everyone’s favourite brass section. Brasstracks were the kids in your grade 8 middle school band that made you give up early. Adding their classic, jazzy sound to the track, consider this one more of a cover than anything. Definite style points.

Sweater Beats Remix:

My personal favourite of the bunch. Sweater Beats has been one of my favourite producers of the summer, after dropping his “Cooler” remix a few months back. This one does not disappoint in the slightest, and I feel like its got the most unique, and sonically different sound (compared to the original) out of all. Dat Drop Doee….. Smexy.

kayjo Remix:

The least viewed of the 5, by far. The lesser know kayjo got some big co-signs for this remix, which is how I came across it, and it’s honestly pretty impressive. The most traditionally electronic sounding of the 5, this one is full of the “wubs” we grew up on.

Louis Futon Remix:

The most viewed of the 5, also by far. Not my personal favourite, but obviously people dig this one, so it had to be in the conversation. Very slow, sensual, and synthy. Definitely a different direction than a few of the other remixes.
