Want to get your music heard by more people?
The showcase is a brand new RLGT monthly segment, that will help up-and-comers do just that. Instead of trying to stay on top the the multiple submissions we get each week, we’ve decided to give the best user submissions of each month a chance to be heard by a whole new audience. We’ll take a handful of the best tracks sent to us each, toss ’em into the showcase, and let the viewers vote on their favorite. After 7 days, winner takes all. The winning artist will not only get the bragging rights, but will also receive a full feature article and mini-interview about their submitted track/project, that will be seen by thousands of Canadian, American, and international hip-hop fans alike. Vote once a day for your favourite submission!
The show must go one… welcome to The Showcase.
The Showcase: October 2015
Cool Nutz – Bass Beatin’ ft E-40, Mistah Fab, Glasses Malone, & Drae Steve
Raz Simone – That Nigga (Video)
Tope – Better Place
Fresh off his new beat tape FREE LEMONADE 2, Portland rapper TOPE drops off some new music in the middle of headlining his first west coast tour. Produced by Stewart Villain, sampling a classic Lauryn Hill record, BETTER PLACE finds TOPE speaking on his move to Oakland, recent Police violence, licensing his first song to TV, and more. Fresh off of his performance at the A3C Festival this year in Atlanta, look for big things soon.
Toozy – Hello
Toozy’s “Hello” is a brief introduction into the body of work he’s been releasing over the past months. Using a blend of ethnic sounds, jazz chords, and hip hop drums to create these pieces of work, the progression is beautiful. The Calgary based artist enjoys playing around with his sounds, as evident in the latest Soulection-esque instrumental.
James Lewis – Still Here
ATL based James Lewis’ “Still Here” is a elegant blend of Future RnB with Hip-hop! Still Here, which is produced by Atlanta/ Rio De Janeiro-based production duo The Cool and includes samples of Clara La San’s “Let You Go” and Dru Hill‘s 90s R&B classic “Beauty”. Still Here finds the young rapper showcasing his laid back flow and emotional lyrics over a smooth instrumental.
Cellus Hamilton – #MyDrunkConfession (Video)
Cellus Hamilton refuses to hold his tongue in his latest freestyle, “#MyDrunkConfession”. Boasting production from Neal Howard (Atlanta) & Rozart (Chicago), Cellus Hamilton explodes on the heels of 2015 with this linguistic exercise. The pop-infused production from Howard is intertwined perfectly with Rozart’s contrasting trap palette. The video – directed by Blakkhouse Films – is a visual manifestation of both hip-hop & divine intoxication.
