After days – no wait, months – no, WAIT, YEARS – after 3 years to the very day, Chance the Rapper took to Twitter earlier today to finally officially announce to the world that his third mixtape is on its way! Tentatively titled Chance 3 or Third, the project will serve as the sequel to Acid Rap which is celebrating its 3rd birthday today, which was the 2013 follow-up to 10 Day. As his verse of “Ultralight Beam” proclaimed, the new mixtape aims to be the biggest and best yet, and perhaps even snatch a couple of Grammy’s…
Not much is known about the project as of yet, besides we do know that Chano has been working with everybody from Kanye West to Lil Wayne to DJ Khaled to Jay Electronica to Brasstracks, *takes huge breath*, just to name a few. Seen filming a new music video for the aforementioned Brasstracks produced cut earlier this week in Miami, it was also announced that Chance will be performing this Thursday, May 5th, on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, and granted history repeats itself you can count on some new music to premiere on air!
Along with the announcement, Chance’s schadenfreude continued and no new music was released, BUT fans were treated to the official cover art for Chance 3 – and it’s dope. Pictured above, the artwork sticks with the spacey, water-color-esque theme of the preview 2 covers, this time with Chance looking down almost as if smiling down at his newborn baby daughter, Kinsley.
Only time will tell when our ears will finally be blessed, but according to Chance “the next weeks will be the most fan-driven, involved roll out in history”. For now, head over to ChanceRaps to join the movement and cop 10 posters for 20$ (a pretty sweet deal), and listen to the first single “Angels”, here. Be sure to keep it locked to RLGT for any leaks!
